Kit Insight
A marketing manager's carry has to survive a pitch in a room they do not control. The laptop is the company's. The deck is not. This page is the bag that walks into that room: a clicker, a notebook, a pen, a drive the venue Wi-Fi cannot eat, and a way to record the conversation after.
The laptop on this page is a MacBook Air 13-inch. Closed, Apple lists it at 11.97 by 8.46 inches, light enough to live in the bag rather than on a desk you do not own. The iPad Air 11-inch is the deck in the room when the laptop stays shut. Neither replaces the clicker. A screen you cannot reach is why the Spotlight is still in the pocket.
Everyday Carry Blog is an independent site with no connection to Everydaycarry.com. Every Amazon link on this page was checked against a live listing title before it went up.
Editor’s Insight
Start with the clicker. The Logitech Spotlight is 131 mm tall, black, and it works as a universal presenter. A room that "has a screen" often has a screen and a laptop you are not allowed to touch. The clicker is how you run your own deck anyway. Charge it the night before. A dead clicker in the first minute is a worse look than no clicker at all.
The notebook is a Moleskine Classic pocket, hardcover, black, 3.5 by 5.5 inches. One page for the objection, one page for the name they want on the follow-up. The Fisher bullet closes to about 3.8 inches and lives next to it. The Montblanc Meisterstück Classique is the pen you hand someone. It is 137 mm with a cap, which makes it a bag pen, not a pocket pen. Using both is the point. One is for the hallway. The other is for the line at the bottom of the page.
The SanDisk Extreme Portable, 1TB, is the unglamorous piece that saves the meeting. Venue Wi-Fi fails. A shared drive asks you to log in on a machine you do not trust. A small SSD with the deck, the cutdown, and the logo pack does neither. Clip it in the bag. Do not leave the only copy on it.
The Joby GorillaPod 1K is a phone tripod with flexible legs, for the booth video and the talking-head cut in a hotel room. The legs bend, which is why it is on the list and not in the flat photo. The RØDE Wireless ME is the mic for the interview after the pitch: a transmitter and a receiver, small enough for the same pocket as the clicker. It is a set, so it stays off the photo too.
What stays off the list on purpose: the laptop, the ring light, the full-size tripod, and any "content creator" kit that only makes sense in a studio. If the company issued it, it is not a kit item.
If you are building this from nothing, buy the clicker and the notebook first. The drive next. The mic and the tripod when the job starts including a camera.
Closing Remarks
Marketing manager EDC is a pitch kit. Carry the clicker, the notebook, and a drive that does not need the venue network. This page is a gear list, not a campaign plan — if you work this role, tell us what your bag holds on pitch day.
