Video Overview
Big thanks to Byte Review for a bag dump that admits what stayed and what did not. In My Everyday Carry Tech Bag 2026, he unpacks the tech he takes on trips, not the pile he carries every single day. The bag is the Gomatic Luma, now in its third year. The computers are still an M3 MacBook Air and an 11-inch M4 iPad Pro. Anker sponsors the middle of the video, and he labels that segment. The rest is gear he bought and kept.

Editor’s Insight
Byte Review is not pretending this is a pocket dump. It is the bag he takes when the trip needs a laptop, a camera, and a way to charge all of it. He has tested newer MacBook Airs and still comes back to the M3 from 2024, with 16 GB of memory, because it still edits video and does design work on the move. The annoyance is the dongle. The win is that the machine stays slim. The iPad is the 11-inch M4 Pro, switched down from 13 inches last year. He uses it for design, research, typing, and watching things. He would consider folding both into a future slim MacBook Pro. He has not done that yet.
The Peak Design Small Tech Pouch is the piece he will not replace. It stands open on its own and slides into the bottom of the Luma. Inside it: an Apple Pencil Pro, a long USB-C cable, a MagSafe cable for the MacBook, a fast data cable, the Air dongle, a Sharge drive that is also a dock and a phone SSD, a Bluetooth transmitter now glued to an airline adapter so he stops forgetting it, a Tessan plug that covers the countries he visits and still has USB ports, Rode wireless mics, a spare Sony battery, wired earbuds for editing because wireless buds lag, and an Anker charger. That is a working pouch, not a gadget drawer.
Anker sponsors the next segment, and he says so. The smart display charger is light, shows what it is feeding the phone, and has a care mode he says runs cooler than other small chargers. The Soundcore AeroClip 2 are open earbuds that clip on, stay MFi certified, and are meant for calls as well as music. He demos a call next to a road. Treat both as a paid segment. The Anker Nano power bank later in the video is not part of that deal. He bought that one in China when his UK chargers were not allowed on the trip, liked the built-in cable, and dropped the wireless pack because a hot phone plus a hot pack felt like a bad idea.
Cameras got smaller on purpose. He owns an A7 IV and an A7C, but travel work is the FX3 on the Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8. That covers 4K at 24, 60, and 120, and stills that are good enough for social posts. The always-with-him camera is the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, case and top mic included, easy enough to hand to someone else. On a tight market trip in China he skipped both and shot the whole video on the iPhone. Five years ago he would not have done that. He is happy with the footage.
The new toy is the AYN Thor, which he calls the end of the retro-handheld search. The Switch 2 comes too, and that is where the bag fails him. The Luma fits a bare Switch 2. It will not zip around a cased one, and turning the console lengthwise eats the main compartment. After three years the zippers and dividers have held up, the top pocket is still useful, and he can rearrange the inside. It is no longer big enough for two days of clothes plus the tech. He looked at AER in London, Troubadour, and Peak Design bags he has owned before, and none of them won. He wants one bag that takes a camera and a couple of shirts. He does not have it yet.
The pocket EDC at the end is separate from the bag. iPhone 18 Pro Max in glacier, AirPods Pro 3, a blue Ridge card wallet and matching key holder, and a Cafe Kitsune Casio. The bag hacks he still uses are small: a spare SD card that stays in the bag as a punishment for forgetting the good one, and a business card. None of that changes the real question in the video. The pouch is dialed. The backpack is the thing he is about to outgrow.
Closing Remarks
Watch Byte Review pack the Luma before you copy the list. The useful part is what survived three years, and the honest part is that the bag is now too small for a cased Switch 2 plus two days of clothes. If you run a tech sling or a camera pack, what would you add room for first? Tell us the bag you would hand him, and whether you would keep the Peak Design pouch even if you changed the pack.
